Dr. Raul Eugenio Alessandri

Dr. Raul Eugenio Alessandri, 88, died Monday, February 13, 2023, in his home surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends near and far. 

On Saturday, February 25^th. at 9:45AM, family and friends are invited to gather directly at St., Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Linden where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM.  The prayers of committal will precede Dr. Alessandri’s burial in the family plot in Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.

Dr. Alessandri, the son of the late Gabriela Alessandri Fabres and the late Guillermo Alessandri was born in Santiago, Chile.  He came to the United States in 1966  and resided in Belle Harbor, New York from 1970 to 2009.  Dr. Alessandri then moved to Davidsonville, Maryland in 2009, where he lived until settling in McAllen, Texas in 2018.

Dr. Alessandri started his medical career in Chile in 1958.  When he came to the United States in 1966, Dr. Alessandri spent a majority of his working career at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.  He then transferred to Long Beach Hospital in Long Beach, New York where he stayed until he earned his well-deserved retirement in 1999. 

In spite of his demanding medical career, Dr. Alessandri had many hobbies that he truly enjoyed.  He loved gardening and was known to have a super green thumb especially for his beloved roses.  Birdwatching was a definite form of relaxation, along with his earlier interest in constructing model planes.  He was a voracious reader of non-fiction work, and he would focus his interests in articles, magazines, books or anything else that dealt with religion, politics or economics.  A deeply religious man, Dr Alessandri was a supernumerary of Opus Dei and taught pre-cana and CCD classes.  Dr. Alessandri was very active in his roman catholic faith and his church community.  Even after his retirement, Dr. Alessandri expanded his horizons by doing translations of various works.

Predeceased by his son, Rafael Alessandri in 1972, Dr. Alessandri is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Dr. Liliana Trivelli; his eight children, Raul Alessandri, Jr., Tomas Alessandri and his wife, Cathy, Maria Alessandri, Juan Alessandri and his wife, Rosana, Luz Alessandri, Fernando Alessandri, Cristina Phaneuf and her husband, Brian and Mariana Alessandri and her husband, Alex Stehn and Dr. Alessandri’s cherished sixteen grandchildren.

Dr. Alessandri was the center of life for his family, and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle.  He will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten.
