Liliana, the daughter of the late Clary Jolly Hernandez and the late Hector Trivelli Franzolini, was born in Chuquicamata, Chile. She grew up in Antofagasta, Chile and as a young adult she moved to Santiago, Chile, where she met and married her late husband, Dr. Raul Eugenio Alessandri.
Together they started their life here in the United States in 1966, living first in the Bronx, New York City, New York and then in Belle Harbor, New York where they raised their family. In 2009 Liliana relocated to Davidsonville, Maryland until 2017, when again with her husband, they sought out the lifestyle that McAllen, Texas offered them.
While living in Chile, Liliana was one of only four women accepted into the medical school in 1956. Here in the United States, Liliana was the director of the Blood Bank at the Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York and she retired in 2000. Working throughout her career as Dr. Trivelli, her name and research are well known and respected throughout the medical field. In 1971, Dr. Trivelli’s research led to a groundbreaking discovery that shed important light on diabetes.
As busy as she was raising a family and working on her medical career path, Liliana sought her peace of mind and relaxation by living her dream life in her home in Belle Harbor, a short block away from the beach and the ocean. Together it was heaven for her. She also appreciated her green thumbs by the plentitude of beauty and colors in her garden and Liliana would continually have fresh flowers at home. Liliana was a Supernumerary of Opus Dei. After her retirement, she started a Grandmother’s Club and she also volunteered for both the IFFD family lobby at the United Nations in New York City and the AIDS subcommittee for the New York City public schools.
Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Raul Eugenio Alessandri in February of this year; her son, Rafael Alessandri in 1972 and her sister, Lucy Trivelli, Liliana is survived by her eight children, Raul Alessandri, Jr., Tomas Alessandri and his wife, Cathy, Maria Alessandri, Juan Alessandri and his wife, Rosana, Luz Alessandri, Fernando Alessandri, Cristina Phaneuf and her husband, Brian and Mariana Alessandri and her husband, Alex Stehn; Liliana’s sixteen grandchildren; her two brothers, Mario Trivelli and Miguel Trivelli and her two sisters, Magdalena Trivelli and Gabriela Trivelli.
Liliana was a special lady who opened doors for many and shed light on a path few could only dream of following. Her legacy is her loving family, her dedication and work ethic, her spirituality and faith and honestly so much more to all those she touched in so many ways. May Liliana remain forever in all our hearts and prayers.
