Diane, the daughter of the late Emma Fischer Saunders and the late Charles Saunders, was born in Passaic, New Jersey and she grew up in Elizabeth and Linden. Diane lived in other local towns, including Roselle Park and Alexandria Township before returning back to Linden where she resided until settling in Apollo Beach, Florida six years ago.
Diane worked in the Account Receivable department in Thomas & Betts Corporation in Bridgewater for twelve years, where she was very active in their mixed bowling leagues and the ladies softball teams. She received her real estate license from the Weichert School of Real Estate and thus began her twenty-five year career as a realtor for Seeger Realty in Linden until her well-deserved retirement in 2016.
Diane was a proud and active member of the NRA and the Hillsborough County, Florida Republican Club. She was extremely passionate about the Friends of the Linden Animal Shelter and Diane’s down time was spent shopping on QVC and watching the latest flicks on the Hallmark Channel. That QVC devotion came in very handy, as Diane loved to decorate her home for every holiday. In fact, she hosted most, if not all the celebrations and dinners in her home, but the running joke was Diane always made sure someone else, usually one or more of her daughters, was doing the cooking. A very smart woman indeed!
Diane was predeceased by her husband, Bernhardt “Bernie” Seeger, Jr. on May 5, 2016. She is survived by her daughters, Denise M. Walker and her companion, Stephen VanDine, Debra A. Pappalardo and her husband, Vince, Vickie Gonzalez and Nancy Seeger Schmidt and her husband, Peter; her twenty-five grandchildren, including Brandon B. Robertson, Devin Shereshevsky and his wife, Melissa, Peter E. Schmidt, Michael Loza and his wife, Mikka and Curtis Filliyor. These five always made an effort to keep their grandmother, Diane, up to date on all their latest antics and often included her in the mayhem! She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Marie Saunders and her nieces and nephew, Elizabeth Shea Velez and her husband, Charlie, Kenneth Saunders, Jr. and Lisa Saunders Jackson and Diane’s many friends and neighbors.
The beauty of Diane was that she always spoke her mind, whether you liked it or not, and she never made apologies for that. If she liked you, she liked you and if not, oh well……Diane lived her life to the fullest, doing what she wanted to do and making sure that she always included her family in her day-to-day joy of living. Her family meant the world to Diane, and she was blessed to have a husband and family that loved and cherished her beyond measure. We will all miss Diane tremendously, but she will forever be in our hearts.
