Mr. Derrick A. Morgan, 58, broke our hearts and brought tears to our eyes, when he entered the arms of the Lord on Monday, July 24, 2023 in the Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Saturday, August 5th. from 2:00-6:00PM. During the visitation, (at a time to be announced), there will be a prayer service and a sharing of memories. On Monday, August 7th. at 10:00AM, everyone will start to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will begin at 10:30AM. The prayers of committal will precede Derrick’s burial in the family plot in Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
Derrick was born in New York City, New York and he resided in Jersey City, New Jersey for many years before settling in Roselle, New Jersey in September of 2005.
He had a career spanning over thirty-five years as a paralegal for Podell Rothman LLP in Manhattan, New York City, New York.
Derrick was a man of many interests. He loved all genres of music and Derrick put his talent to good use as a DJ, not only doing private parties, but also at Central Park in Roselle for many years. Sports were a main focal point in his life, as there was not a single sport that Derrick didn’t enjoy watching, at both the collegiate and professional level. Football, baseball, golf, tennis, soccer and even sports fishing, to name a few. Along with his interest in sports, Derrick had quite a collection of sports jersey’s that he would be wearing constantly, and Derrick didn’t just show favor to only one team or one sport. He was an equal opportunity purchaser of sports related clothing. Derrick was a natural born athlete himself, who engaged in the grueling training for running and finishing the New York marathon in November of 2002. When Derrick was looking for some mental stimulation, he would challenge you to a mean game of chess and when there was quiet time for Derrick, you would usually find him floating in the backyard pool. He loved being in that pool! However, even with all these interests to fill his life, Derrick’s #1 priority was his family. He loved spending time with them, simply doing anything or even nothing at all. Family was very important to Derrick.
Predeceased by his mother, Theresa Morgan and his sister, Denise Morgan, Derrick is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Natasha Jett; his four children, Derrick Gooden, Eric Morgan, Tayla Morgan and Sydney Morgan; his brother, Ashley Morgan; his co-workers, good friends and neighbors.
Derrick was the center of life for his family, and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle. He will be deeply missed, but Derrick will never be forgotten.
