Daniela B Nycek

Mrs. Daniela B. Szetela Nycek, 92, entered the arms of the Lord guided by His heavenly angels on Saturday, August 31, 2024.

We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time. 

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Thursday, September 5th. from 6:00-8:00PM.  On Friday, September 6th. at 9:45AM, everyone will meet directly at St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth, where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM.  The cremation in Rosehill Crematory, Linden will be private.

Daniela, the daughter of the late Karolina Strzepek Szetela and the late Stanislaw Szetela was born in Grodzisko, Poland and she came to the United States forty-five years ago, immediately settling in Linden, New Jersey.

While in Poland, Daniela and her late husband, Wladyslaw owned and operated two restaurants.  The first one they maintained for four years was called “Dorotka” followed by the second location that they opened and worked for six years called “Oaza”.  Here in the United States, Daniela was employed as a store clerk for Teddy’s Provisions in Newark for thirty years before taking her well-deserved retirement seventeen years ago.

Daniela had a lot of interests to occupy her free time.  She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, watch television shows and sing, especially to her granddaughter, Caroline.  A favorite pastime was gathering with her friends, sitting outside telling stories and sharing memories.  The greatest joy that Daniela experienced was any time she was able to spend with her family.  It didn’t matter if there was a major holiday to celebrate or a casual cup of coffee with a simple piece of cake at the kitchen table.  Family was everything to Daniela! 

Predeceased by her husband, Wladyslaw Nycek (2019); her grandson, Milosz Nycek and her daughter-in-law, Maria Nycek, Daniela is survived by her two sons, Andrzej Nycek, Jacek Nycek and his wife, Anna;  her daughter, Barbara Pelc and her husband, Janusz; her four grandchildren, Magdalena Nycek, Rafal Nycek, Caroline Nycek and Aleksandra Pelc; her four great grandchildren, Maya Skalski, Maximilian Skalski, Julia Nycek and Sara Nycek; her sister, Jolanta Szetela and Daniela’s many neighbors and friends.

Daniela was the shining, guiding light for her family.  That light has now dimmed as we mourn the loss of Daniela and offer our prayers to the family as elicited by strength of Daniela’s faith and her love of her church.  May she now rest in eternal peace.

Daniela will be deeply missed, but her love will forever remain in our hearts.
