Mrs. Colleen E. Schroeder Krason, 66, after a series of health concerns entered the eternal kingdom on Friday, May 23, 2025.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the memorial visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Saturday, June 28th. from 2:00PM-5:00PM. The cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden was private.
Colleen, the daughter of the late Eileen Fischer Schroeder and the late Robert Clifford Schroeder was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey and she grew up in Piscataway, New Jersey where she lived until the age of nineteen. She then moved into Linden where she created her life, raising and nurturing her family for forty-two years before relocating to Iselin four years ago.
Colleen was a sort of “Jill of all trades”, holding a variety of jobs throughout her life from driving a school bus to waitressing and bartending. One of the jobs that she treasured the most was when she was about 20 years old, working on a horse farm, tending to about a dozen horses. A dream job indeed! Later in life, Colleen was employed by the city of Linden as a school crossing guard for many years prior to her retirement in 2013, due to disability issues.
In her younger days, Colleen was the female equivalent of a daredevil. She loved to show off her expertise roller skating in the rink for hours on end. She was thrilled with the frequency that she could experience the wind in her face and the exhilaration of the feeling of freedom that came from riding her motorcycle or driving around in her Willy’s jeep with the top down through the winding roads into the mountains. An avid Bingo player, Colleen shared her first date with her future husband, Richard, playing Bingo with their bag of chips and colored dotters in tow. She was a rocker in her heart and soul expressing herself with her proficient playing of both the guitar and the keyboard. Not one to abandon her affinity for nature, Colleen, with her two green thumbs enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers that adorned her home with their amazing colors and fragrant aromas. Her home was always decorated to the nines, both inside and out. Forever open to other worlds and possibilities, Colleen joined a ghost hunting club around 2005, and she then started her own group that was active for a few years. I’m sure she had a few hair-raising experiences along the way. Lastly as her life and her hobbies slowed down due to a decline in her movement, Colleen enjoyed watching scary movies and reruns of old game shows.
In addition to her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Schroeder.
She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Richard Krason; her two daughters, Shannon Lucarello and her husband, Michael and their two children, Spencer and Alissa and Kelly Frankel and her husband , Kevin and their two children, Nora and Oakley; her four sister, Kathleen Naylor and her husband, Mark, Maureen Stadtler and her husband, John, Christeen Molburg and her husband, Greg and Noreen Dreste and Colleen’s numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Colleen was the bright, shining, guiding light of her family that has now dimmed. Please join together and offer your support to Colleen’s family as they try to find their way on the lonesome journey of grief and loss. May they all be guided and supported by your love, just as Colleen loved all of you. We know that Colleen will be forever in our hearts, and may she always be remembered as a lady who brought joy and happiness to everyone she encountered. Colleen will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten.
