Carmen Rita Ramos
“Mima” — Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great great- Grandmother, Friend and Matriarch.
With hearts full of love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Carmen Rita Ramos, lovingly known as “Mima” who left this world just four days before her 98th birthday. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of the family she so fiercely protected, nurtured, and cherished all her life.
In respect of Carmen's wishes, her cremation was private. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 from 10:30AM to 12:30PM. **We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.**
Carmen was born in Colombia, and from her earliest years, she embodied strength, faith, and an unshakable love for her family. She was the heartbeat of every room she entered—a woman of grit and grace, whose presence offered comfort and whose words carried wisdom.
She raised her five children with unwavering devotion, sacrificing so much to give them everything. She was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. She made a home not just through work, but through warmth, tenderness, and love. Carmen had a quiet, steady strength, yet she laughed freely, loved deeply, and cared endlessly for those around her.
She found joy in simple pleasures, like tending her garden, reading her Bible, and listening to Spanish radio shows long before television reached her home. Music filled her soul, especially the sounds of mariachi, which would light up her eyes and bring her to her feet in dance. Her love for music was matched only by her love for God and family.
Carmen was also a creative spirit. She turned her talent for making candies into a small business, and anyone lucky enough to taste them knew they were made with more than skill—they were made with love. Her hands were always busy, her heart always full.
Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved mother Florentina Ramos, brother Miguel Angel Ramos and her beloved husband, Jose Hernan Botello. She is survived by her children: Ramiro Botello and his wife, Henry Botello and his wife, Mercedes Botello and her exhusband Jorge Duque, Hector Botello and his wife, and Jairo Botello and his wife Olga Lucia. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren—including Mercedes Duque, Lizeth Botello and 10 other grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a large extended family and community who were all blessed by her presence.
Though our hearts ache, we find peace knowing that Carmen’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched. Her laughter, her resilience, her unwavering faith, and her unconditional love will echo through generations. She may have left this world, but her spirit—our Mima—will live forever in our hearts.
