Bogumila, the daughter of the late Ewa Bocek Kurcon and the late Stanislaw Kurcon, was born in Domaradz, Poland. She came to the United States on February 2, 1972, and Bogumila immediately settled in Linden, New Jersey.
After her retirement from Merck & Co. in 2009. Bogumila continued to enjoy life’s pleasures. Her loves in life were very humble and she had an ability to find joy in every moment. Gardening showed off her two green thumbs with her backyard display of her beautiful, colorful flowers and the abundant vegetables that always made it to the dinner table. This of course leads to her other gift – the art of excellent cooking, especially any and all Polish foods. She was the best cook, and everyone appreciated her culinary talents!
Bogumila had a deep devotion to her faith and her church that she attended faithfully throughout the years. However, even with all of these activities, her greatest joy in life came from the simple act of spending time with her family, friends, and the family dog Daisy.
Yet, it was within the folds of her family that Bogumila found her greatest joy. She held a special place in her heart for her loving grandchildren. Whether it was a grand celebration or an unexpected visit, Bogumila's face would light up with sheer delight. Her genuine happiness in those moments radiated, creating an atmosphere of warmth and love that her family cherished deeply.
Bogumila is survived by her husband of fifty-two years, Mieczyslaw Pitera; her son, Stanislaw Pitera and his wife, Kasia; her daughter, Teresa Kmiotek and her husband, Jurek; her three grandchildren, Maya Pitera, Noah Pitera and Sofia Kmiotek and her many friends and neighbors.
Bogumila was the shining light for her family, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle. Our hearts are broken, and tears fill our eyes with our loss of Bogumila and we ask that you keep her in your prayers. Bogumila will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten. Though she may have left this world, her legacy will remain etched in our souls forever.
