Mrs. Blanche V. Korab Magierowski, 79, entered the arms of the Lord, surrounded by the love of her family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Thursday, January 4th. from 4:00-8:00PM. On Friday, January 5th. at 8:15AM, everyone will start to gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will begin at 8:45AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church in Elizabeth at 10:00AM. The prayers of the committal will precede Blanche’s burial in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
Blanche, the daughter of the late Blanche Matlosz Korab and the late Martin Korab, was born in
Elizabeth, New Jersey, where she resided until moving to Linden in 1970.
She was employed by the Elizabeth Board of Education as a cafeteria cook manager at the Roosevelt Elementary/Middle School for over twenty years until her well-deserved retirement in 2008.
Blanche was a superb baker. Her varied desserts, such as her cakes, pies and cookies were shared and enjoyed by many. However, baking wasn’t the only kitchen craft she enjoyed. Blanche was an excellent cook. She delighted family and friends alike with her savory meals, and all were welcome. Whether it was preparing meals for the holidays or simple meals slated for the kitchen table, you never left Blanche’s home dissatisfied or with an empty stomach; yet Blanche’s interests didn’t end there. Blanche had a supreme devotion to many types of animals and pets. She frequently donated to an assortment of organizations geared towards helping care for those animals in need. Throughout her life, Blanche had dogs and cats roaming her home. Her two most recent cats, Lady & Flipper (Flip) kept her company as they entertained her and those who visited, with silly antics typical of the kitties.
As for formal organizations, Blanche was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #5 in Rahway, where Blanche enjoyed socializing, helping to organize, and frequently participating in all their events and fundraisers.
Blanche was predeceased by her grandson, Gregory Edward VanAuken in 2013 and her brother, John Korab.
Blanche is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Edward Magierowski; her son, Edward J. Magierowski and his fiancé, Robin Marinelli; her daughter, Christine VanAuken and her husband, Gregory VanAuken, Jr.; her grandson, Luke VanAuken; her two brothers, Martin Korab and his wife, Louise, and Edward Korab; her sister, Mrs. Carol Burnejko and her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Blanche–the center of life for her family–was a woman of many talents, unimaginable generosity, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle. She was strong and positive with an unwavering loyalty to family and friends alike. Eyes forever twinkling… Smiles always bright. Blanche had a zest for life. Everyone who met her, even for a moment, felt her warmth, kindness, and love. Keenly missed, and never forgotten. She’ll live on in all of us. Blanche is home now, and when it’s time to pay a visit, she’ll welcome you warmly as she always has: “Hiya, coffee’s on.”
