Bernardine, the daughter of the late Victoria Kramer Podczasy and the late John Podczasy, was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and she has resided in the Linden and Edison, New Jersey area since 1959.
Bernardine enjoyed being a homemaker, caring for her husband and children, and creating a loving environment full of fun, guidance, support, and family values. She was a very devout Catholic who taught the importance of a strong faith and love of church to her family. Music could move her soul & get her feet dancing because you know of course that Polka’s were her favorite! Above all, the greatest joy in Bernardine’s life came from time spent with family. For her, it didn’t matter if the family was gathering for a special occasion or a holiday celebration or a simple “sit around the kitchen table” with a cup of coffee and a cookie. Family was tantamount in Bernardine’s life!
Predeceased by her husband, Francis “Frank” W. Walko in 1994, Bernardine is survived by her five children; Walter Walko & his wife, Cindy, Frank Walko, Mary Prumos and her husband, Jim, Rosemary McKenna and her husband, John, Joanne Walko and Hoa Trinh; her twelve grandchildren, Cristina Ward and her husband, Mark, Theresa Padula and her husband, Andrew, Joanna Rohal and her husband, Mike, Jimmy Prumos, Mari McKenna, John McKenna, Catherine McKenna, Frank Walko, Randall Walko, Natalie Walko, Richard Walko and Christian Walko and her six great grandchildren, Edward, Daniel, Jaxson, Luca, Madison and Marshal.
Bernardine was the center of life for her family, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle. Bernardine will be deeply missed, but she will never be forgotten.
May Bernardine be granted eternal rest in peace. Amen.
