Mr. Berlin Ivera, 83, of Linden, NJ, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on August 21,2024 at Trinitas Regional Medical Center.
On Saturday, September 7th, 2024, family and friends are invited to visit from 8:00AM to 9:00AM at Holy Mountain Church, 800 Roselle Street, Linden, New Jersey, 07036. At approximately 9:00AM, services will commence, ending at approximately 11:00AM. Interment will take place following, at the family plot in Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale, New York.
Berlin was born in La Colline D’Aquin, Haiti on June 8, 1941 to parents Altigene and Amen (Dupart) Ivera. Berlin grew up and attended school in Haiti before immigrating to the United States in 1981, where he lived in New York. He worked as a mechanic for many years at Transco Transmission in Brooklyn, New York, before retiring and moving to Linden, New Jersey in 2009. Berlin and his wife Clemene shared a beautiful and blessed life together, raising their children and growing their family.
Berlin was known for his dedication to the Lord and his churches he was a member of. He was also quite the handyman, known for being able to fix most things, even if he was the one to break them in the first place. Family, friends, and neighbors knew they could count on him to always lend a helping hand if they needed something fixed or repaired, and he was always so generous and kind. Berlin also loved to travel, oftentimes to Haiti, Florida and Georgia. He would announce to the family “get in the car, we’re hitting the road,” and simply be off on an impromptu vacation.
Berlin also loved his TV shows and action movies, commenting and cheering for the heroes like Harrison Ford in “Indiana Jones” and “Air Force One,” Chuck Norris in "Delta Force", and shouting the answers out while watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He also loved the outdoors and spending time with his family. Above all, Berlin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, neighbor and friend, and will be truly missed and never forgotten.
Berlin is predeceased by his wife Clemene, his son Lionel, and his parents. He is survived by his children Webert, Luna, Eunide, Carline, Martine, Berline, and Samuel, his 17 grandchildren, and many other extended family and friends.
