Mr. Basilio Gualdarrama, 91, died Friday, April 30, 2021 in the Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Friday, May 7th. from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. On Saturday, May 8th., the funeral services will be private for the family only. Mr. Gualdarrama will be buried in his family plot in the Cemeterio Municipal Remanso de Paz (El Tres) in Arecibo, Puerto Rico.
Mr. Gualdarrama, the son of the late Simona Rivera Gualdarrama and the late Andres Gualdarrama, was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He came to the mainland United States in 1962 and he has resided in Irvington, New Jersey since 1971.
Mr. Gualdarrama was employed for many years, first as a cook at the Weequahic Diner in Newark, New Jersey and then as a machine operator for the Seton Leather Company, also in Newark, New Jersey before he retired in 1992.
Mr. Gualdarrama was an extremely outgoing gentleman. He loved to walk around on a daily basis with no special route or destination in mind. He enjoyed watching sports, especially his NY Yankees baseball team. Numbers were his life, as Mr. Gualdarrama loved to play the Lotto, believing that you definitely had to be in it to win it. However, above all else, Mr. Gualdarrama loved his family with all his heart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gualdarrama was predeceased by his siblings, Braulio Gualdarrama, Goria Gualdarrama, Otilio Gualdarrama, Teo Gualdarrama, Lorenza Torres and Juana Gualdarrama.
Mr. Gualdarrama is survived by his two sisters, Carmen Martinez and Lydia Gualdarrama and his numerous nieces and nephews.
