Barbara, the oldest of five children born to the late Mary R. Jasinski Castelli and the late Paul Castelli was born in New York City, New York. She spent her early youth in Brooklyn, New York followed by growing up in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey before moving to Linden, New Jersey in 1963.
Barbara had a twenty plus year career as financial planning specialist for Wakefern Foods Corp., in Edison, New Jersey before enjoying her well-deserved retirement in 2001.
Throughout her life, Barbara had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and as a result, she was forever reading. Barbara simply loved to read. Crossword puzzles, sudoku and any other word games were high on her list. When she really wanted to escape real life for a few hours, she did what most of us do, she turned to America’s favorite pastime – watching the soaps! Those shows definitely kept Barbara entertained.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is pre-deceased by her daughter, Alicia A. Gaydos (2018) and her two sisters, Lucille Quinn, and Florence Ronchetti.
Barbara is survived by her husband of sixty years, Andrew A. Gaydos, Sr., her son, Andrew A. Gaydos II, her grandson, Zachary A. Gaydos and his mother, Monika Zareba; her two brothers, Thomas P. Castelli and Michael P. Castelli and her many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Barbara was a force to be reckoned with. Her spirit, intelligence, and quick wit, often put Barbara in the category of “to know her, is to love her”. Her shinning light has now dimmed and we are broken hearted at the darkness left behind. Our love for Barbara is the one thing that will never be extinguished and we will miss her forever.
