Arleen Golda Obituary

Ms. Arleen F. Golda, 70, of Linden, New Jersey earned her angel wings, suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 12, 2022.

On Thursday, October 20th. at 9:45AM, family and friends are invited to gather directly at St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church, 250 East Jersey Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey, where a funeral mass will be offered at 10:00AM.  The prayers of committal will precede her burial in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Linden.

Please omit flowers.  The family has asked that you kindly make a donation in Arleen’s memory to the Penny Angels Beagle Rescue, 420 Consumer Square, Mays Landing, New Jersey 08330.

Arleen, the daughter of the late Caroline Tyczka Golda and the late Walter Golda, was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey and she relocated to Linden, New Jersey in 2006.

Arleen held the title of clerk 4, working in the fiscal department of the Union County Division of Social Services in Elizabeth for over fifty years and she retired earlier this year.

Arleen was an extremely religious lady with a special devotion to Our Blessed Mother Mary.  She alternated attending Sunday mass between St. Adalbert Roman Catholic Church and St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, both in Elizabeth.  Arleen always kept her rosary beads with her and prior to mass, as she sat in church pew, she prayed the rosary. She was an animal lover, especially dogs, and Beagles were her favorite breed.  She seemed to have a beagle furry companion all her life.  Arleen was gifted with a unique innate ability to always remember events, including people and places but dates were her specialty.  All you had to do, was just ask her when something took place, even if it was years ago and Arleen would have the correct information.  Everyone in the family always said "just ask Arleen”!  If we had to describe Arleen, we would liken her to being a “homebody”.  She grew up in the family home on Geneva Street in Elizabeth with her parents and her sister.  Back in 2006, it was very difficult for her to leave that home and move to Linden, but she did so, because her sister, Cathy felt it was the right move at the right time.  In her heart, Arleen never really left Geneva Street.  She loved the neighborhood and most importantly to her, the memories of her entire extended family, past & present were entrenched in that area.  Arleen lead a very simple but complete life, in that her family, her home, her church and her work fulfilled her.  She was content with that, because truthfully what else did she need?

In addition to her parents, Arleen was predeceased by her sister, Catherine “Cathy” M. Golda in 2020.

Arleen is survived by her six first cousins, who were always a part of her life in one way or another.

They are devastated that Arleen has left them so suddenly, but the true joy in their hearts come from the understanding that Arleen has been reunited with her parents and her sister.  For Arleen and her family, their earthly life has come full circle and they have all earned the just rewards of being together again in Heaven.

Their circle is complete again and we know they are all smiling down upon us!
