Anne Babula Obituary

Ms. Anne Babula, 102, of Linden, New Jersey was reunited with her heavenly family on Sunday, September 18, 2022, having passed away at the AristaCare @ Delaire Nursing & Convalescent Center in Linden, New Jersey.

We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Thursday, September 22nd. from 9:00-10:00AM. Following the visitation there will be a prayer service and a celebration of Anne’s life in the funeral home.  Everyone will then go in procession format to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Linden where a funeral mass will be offered at 11:00AM.  The cremation in Rosehill Crematory, Linden, and the inurnment of Anne’s cremains in her niche in St. Gertrude Cemetery, in Colonia, will be private.

Anne, the daughter of the late Frances Wolak Babula and the late Tony Babula was born in Windber, Pennsylvania.  In the mid 1920’s Anne moved to Poland, followed by her return to the United States where she lived in Jamaica, Queens, New York for sixteen years.  Anne then relocated to Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1945 and she finally settled in Linden, New Jersey in 1955.

Anne worked as a server for the Tower Steakhouse in Springfield, New Jersey for many years prior to her retirement.

Throughout her life, Anne kept very active.  She did ceramics for thirty-five years creating many beautifully painted and glazed pieces.  You could always find Anne in the kitchen cooking and baking up a storm, especially her delicious babka.  In the 1950’s her time was spent working diligently with her hands and the special needles, yarn, and wool, creating gorgeous knitted and crochet items for herself, family, and friends.  In later years the television became Anne’s companion as she enjoyed watching the afternoon soap operas and in the evening the channel was turned to Jeopardy, of course!

In addition to her parents, Anne was predeceased by her five brothers and sisters, and she is survived by six nieces and nephews.

It is extremely difficult to be the last one left from the immediate family & Anne was always wondering why she was sort of “left behind”.  Her surviving family, although small, cherished Anne & took excellent care of her throughout Anne’s later years, particularly as she declined in health.  We are sad at the loss of Anne, because we were blessed with her presence and her love for so many years, but we are also happy that she is finally reunited with all those family and friends that Anne loved & lost over her lifetime.  God Bless Our Anne!
