Angel also dabbled in cockfighting and on the relaxing side of his life, he found entertainment reading the daily newspaper. Ever the character, Angel’s favorite television show was The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Angel was the youngest and the last living member of the ten children born to his parents.
Angel was predeceased by his son, Angel “Chichi” Arvelaez in 1980 and his son-in-law, Diogenes Lopez in 2004. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of seventy-one years, Carmen Lopez; his eight children, Elizabeth Guevara, Diosa Arvelaez and her husband, Angel Alvarado, Victor Arvelaez, Thais Porter and her husband, Donald Porter, Maribel Allen and her husband, John Allen, Marlene Abitanto and her husband, Peter Abitanto, Francisca Alvarado and her husband, Marcos Alvarado and Jose Arvelaez and his wife, Andrea Franco-Arvelaez, his daughter-in-law, Ninosca Montanez, his twenty grandchildren; his nineteen great grandchildren and his many neighbors and friends.
Angel was a bright, shining, guiding light for all and he was the center of life for his family. He had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle. So many hearts are broken as tears fill our eyes with this enormous loss. Angel has now joined together with all those family and friends who went before him. They were waiting for him with open arms and smiles on their faces. Angel will be deeply missed, but he will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
