Andres E. Rivera Hernandez, 63, of Elizabeth, New Jersey, entered the presence of the Lord on September 23rd, 2025, accompanied by the love of his family.
We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Saturday, September 27th from 8:30AM - 11:30AM. A procession will follow to the burial at Rosedale Cemetery in Linden for approximately 12:15PM.
Andres was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, to parents Andres and Angela (Alvarado) Rivera. He spent his early years in El Salvador, before emigrating to the United States in 1984, where he started a professional career in masonry and construction. Andres truly lived the “American Dream” by starting and successfully operating his own masonry company out of Elizabeth, NJ called “Father & Son Home Improvement.” He was always a hard worker, and a skilled tradesman, often fixing things for his family when they needed. Andres recently retired in 2023, and enjoyed life surrounded by the ones he loved.
Andres frequently took trips back to El Salvador to visit family and friends, and of course, to fish. He loved fishing, and savored various seafood dishes. To his children, Andres was fearless. He went on helicopter rides, did countless other exhilarating things, and even subdued a bee with his bare hands. Pain was not in his dictionary. He was also a man of faith and God, visiting church frequently, and he even guest-hosted a Christian radio show in Paterson called “Radio Christian Vision.” Andres was also an avid animal advocate. He recently took in birds that had been injured, and was caring for them up until his passing. Above all else, he was a loving father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend, and he will be extremely missed by many.
Andres is predeceased by his father Andres J Rivera. He is survived by his mother Angela Rivera, his children Jonathan Rivera, and Angela Rivera, his six grandchildren Lianna, Oliver, Jacquelin, Jason, Kayla, and Grace, his four siblings, and many other extended family and friends.
Although he may no longer be with us, may the light of Andres shine within the hearts of those he loved, and may the love of those around him lift his spirit to heaven.
