Mr. Richard A. Drewa, 80, died Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, August 21st. from 5:00-8:00PM. On Thursday, August 22nd., from 8:30-9:00AM everyone will gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will be held at 9:00AM, followed by the funeral mass to be offered in the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus R.C. Church, Linden at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede his entombment in the family crypt in Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
Mr. Drewa, the son of the late Wiktoria Smykowska Drewa and the late Jan Drewa, was born in Gdynia, Poland. He came to the United States in February of 1959 and he lived in Jersey City and Irvington, New Jersey for twenty-eight years before settling in Clark, New Jersey in 1978.
Mr. Drewa worked in the auto body industry for many years before becoming the owner and operator of Deluxe Auto Body in Linden, New Jersey. He loved fixing and painting cars. Mr. Drewa worked at his shop for over twenty-five years until he retired in 2005. In his spare time, Mr. Drewa was an avid gardener and landscaper, to the point that all of his friends and neighbors admired the time and effort he put into making his property beautiful. As for sports, Mr. Drewa was very interested in soccer and of course, Poland was his favorite team. He always tried to watch whenever they had a match.
Predeceased by his brother, Viktor Drewa, Mr. Drewa is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Halina Korkus Drewa; his daughter, Michelle Drewa; his sister, Halina Okwiet and her husband Wieslaw; his sister-in-law, Danuta Drewa and his many cousins, friends and neighbors.
