Joseph P. Terefenko Jr.

Mr. Joseph P. Terefenko Jr., 77, died suddenly on Saturday, September 29, 2018 in his home in Linden, New Jersey.

The visitation and prayer service held in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden, on Wednesday, October 3^rd. was private for the family and close friends.

Mr. Terefenko, the son of the late Mildred Meleky Terefenko and the late Joseph Terefenko, was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and resided in Linden, New Jersey his entire life.

He was a bartender working at Merdie’s Tavern in Linden for twenty years, followed by employment at Chick’s Tavern in Elizabeth for thirty years until he retired in 2012.

Mr. Terefenko served in the U.S. Army during peacetime.

Locally, he enjoyed his daily lunches with the seniors at the Gregorio Center in Linden.  His real joy came from fishing and crabbing and just being on his boat, that he aptly name “Friggin Wonderful”

Mr. Terefenko is survived by his son, Joseph A. Terefenko; his daughter, Melissa Terefenko and his brothers, Kenneth Terefenko and his wife, Deborah, Michael Terefenko and his wife, Jackie and Robert Terefenko and his wife, Helene.

In accordance with Mr. Terefenko wishes, he will be privately cremated at Rosehill Crematory in Linden.
