Joseph Anthony Hatzlhoffer
Mr. Joseph Anthony Hatzlhoffer 84, died Thursday, October 4, 2018 in the Bayville Manor in Bayville, New Jersey.
Visitation will take place in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden, on Monday, October 8th. from 6:00 to 8:00PM and Tuesday, October 9th. from 10:00AM to 12:00 Noon. Also on Tuesday, October 9th., at 11:30AM in the Kowalski Funeral Home, there will be a military honors service conducted by members of the U.S. Army.
In accordance with Mr. Hatzlhoffer’s wishes, his cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden and the inurnment of his cremains in the family plot in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, will be private.

Mr. Hatzlhoffer, the son of the late Mary Sellner Hatzlhoffer and the late Casper Hatzlhoffer, was born in Linden, New Jersey. He resided in Colonia, New Jersey for thirty-two years, followed by a residence in Sterling, New Jersey for sixteen years before settling in Toms River, New Jersey in 2014.
Mr. Hatzlhoffer was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army and he was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, as well as, a member the VFW Post #6061 in Colonia, New Jersey.
Mr. Hatzlhoffer completed his apprenticeship as a tool maker at the Singer Manufacturing Company in Elizabeth, New Jersey prior to his employment as a machinist for twenty-eight years at C.R. Bard in Murray Hill, New Jersey, until his retirement in 1987.
Mr. Hatzlhoffer was very much an outdoors man who loved fishing, hunting, and boating.
Predeceased by his sister, the late Christina Morrison, Mr. Hatzlhoffer is survived by his two daughters; Michele Hatzlhoffer and Jodi Gelles and her husband, Kerry; his six brothers and sisters, Casper Harris, Mary Potempa, Frank Hatzlhoffer, Margaret Roman, Bernadette Henninger and Anthony Hatzlhoffer; his two grandsons, Bradley Gelles and Alexander Gelles and many nieces and nephews.
