Mrs. Frances Homyock Smigelsky Duda, 94, died Sunday, July 14, 2019 in the Careone at the Highlands in Edison, New Jersey.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Wednesday, July 17th. from 3:00-7:00PM. The Parastas will be held on Wednesday at 6:30PM in the funeral home. On Thursday, July 19th. from 8:15-8:45AM everyone will gather in the funeral home where a prayer service will be held at 8:45AM, followed by the Divine Liturgy to be offered in St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church in Rahway at 10:00AM. The prayers of committal will precede her entombment in the family crypt in Rosedale Cemetery in Linden, New Jersey.
Mrs. Duda, the last of thirteen children of the late Mary Osuch Homyock and the late Joseph Homyock, was born in Wilkes-Barre in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Duda resided in Linden, New Jersey for fifty-seven years before settling in Rahway, New Jersey four years ago,
She was employed as a bank reconciler for twenty-one years at the National State Bank in Linden prior to her retirement in 1985. A dedicated, hard worker, Mrs. Duda would tend to her family in the daytime hours and then work nights at the bank. Back then and up until her death, the time spent making memories and sharing activities with her family members was the most important thing in her life. Nothing else came even close.
Mrs. Duda was predeceased by her two husbands, John Smigelsky, Jr. in 1984 and Frank Duda in 2017.
Mrs. Duda is survived by her two sons, Robert Smigelsky and his wife Linda and Joseph M. Smigelsky, Sr. and his wife, Helen; her four grandchildren, Kenneth Smigelsky, Joei-Leigh Payne and her husband, David, John H. Smigelsky and his wife, Jacci and Joseph M. Smigelsky, Jr. and her great grandchild, Nicholas J. Smigelsky.
