Mrs. Kowalski, the daughter of the late Wiktoria Dopart Tomon and the late Jakub Tomon was born in Gwoznica Gorna, Poland. She first came to the United States in 1965 and lived in Newark, New Jersey for three years. After that, she and her late husband, Edward would spend time traveling between Poland and visiting their family in Sayreville, New Jersey. In 2003, both Emilia and Edward decided to remain in the United States, settling in Roselle Park, New Jersey.
While in Poland, Emilia and her husband, Edward, were farmers, working hard on their farm for fifty years, from the time they were married in 1953 until 2003.
Mrs. Kowalski was a very religious woman, devoted to her faith. She also exhibited the other loves of her Polish heritage, especially singing Polish songs and dancing. Mrs. Kowalski extended her love of the arts to painting, particularly portraits, flowers and landscapes. In the latter part of her life, as she battled her illness, Mrs. Kowalski suffered quite a lot and she missed her homeland terribly. Mrs. Kowalski’s devotion and love for her children, her grandchildren and the rest of her family was beyond measure. That love always brought her great joy and later carried her through the hardest of times, health wise.
Predeceased by her husband, Edward Kowalski in 2006, Mrs. Kowalski is survived by her daughter, Zofia Bator and her husband, Wieslaw, with whom she made her home; her son, Tadeusz Kowalski and his wife, Krystyna Pietka; her sister, Wanda Kolodziej; her three granddaughters, Alicja Bator, Renata Malinowski and her husband, Zack and Kathlene Bator and her four great grandcildren, Magdalena Piasecki, Aleksandra Piasecki, Dominik Piasecki and Maya Malinowski.
