Mr. Romauld “Romek” Onisko, 87, entered the arms of the Lord and His heavenly angels, surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday March 23, 2024.
We respectfully request that no one arrives at the Church prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time.
Also, because we, as Catholics are in the season of Lent, no flowers will be allowed in the church for either the visitation or the mass.
Family and friends are invited to the visitation which will be held in St. Hedwig Roman Catholic Church, 600 Myrtle Street, Elizabeth, New Jersey on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 1:00-1:45PM, followed by the funeral mass at 2:00PM. The cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden will be private.
Romek, the son of the late Zofia Komlo Onisko and the late Aleksander Onisko was born in Sosnowe Bagno, Poland and he came to the United States in 1981, settling in Livingston in 1985.
He was a very hard-working man and Romek was very productive in his professional life.
He had a deep devotion to his faith that was instilled in Romek by his parents was he was growing up in Poland. Romek and his wife, Zdzislawa, made sure to impart that commitment and dedication to their children. Romek’s true happiness came from spending time with his family, and he was extremely proud of his two sons and the men they had become. That joy was multiplied many times over by his three granddaughters, who never ceased to amaze him with their perseverance and commitment to their individual journeys in life. Family was everything to Romek!
Romek is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Zdzislawa Bielecka Onisko; his two sons, Wojciech Onisko and Leszek Onisko and his wife, Malgorzata; his brother, Jozef Anisko; his sister Maria Bialas and his three granddaughters, Paulina Onisko, Natalia Onisko and Izabela Onisko.
Romek was the center of life, the guiding light for his family and he had an abundance of love for everyone in his circle. Hearts are broken and eyes are filled with tears, as his family and friends now try to deal with this major loss of Romek. We know that he will be deeply missed, but Romek will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
