Florence Folake Fapohunda

Mrs. Florence Folake Fapohunda, 79, entered the arms of the Lord, surrounded by the love and care of her family on Sunday, February 25, 2024.

We respectfully request that no one arrive at the funeral home prior to the posted visitation times, so as not to intrude on the family’s private time. 

Family and friends are invited to the visitation in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle Street, Linden on Sunday, March 3rd. from 3:00-7:00PM.  On Monday, March 4th. at 10:30AM, everyone will  begin to gather in the funeral home for additional visitation time and prayers.  At 11:30AM, we will form the traditional procession as we escort Florence to her place of rest.  The prayers of committal will precede her burial in the family plot in Rosehill Cemetery in Linden.

Florence, the daughter of the late Dorcas Olotupaye Adeyeri and the late Nicolas Adeyeri was born in Akure, Nigeria.  She came to the United States in 1996 and Florence resided in Staten Island, New York before settling in Linden, New Jersey eight years ago.

Florence was employed by the Star Ledger newspaper in their industrial services department for fifteen years prior to her well-deserved retirement ten years ago.

In her free time, Florence enjoyed working in her garden growing a variety of vegetables that she used in the delicious recipes she prepared for her family.  Florence, with her generous nature was often on the giving end of sharing her exceptional produce with family and friends.  Travel, especially abroad, was another one of Florence’s hobbies that she liked to indulge in.   However, it must be said that even with all of this, the most important part of Florence’s existence was her husband and her family.  She loved them so much and nothing gave her more joy in life than to spend time with one or all, whether it was for a big holiday celebration or simply a mundane event like sitting around the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and a cookie.  Life was good for Florence, and she was beyond blessed.

Florence is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Robert O. Fapohunda; her five children, Festus Babatunde Fapohunda and his wife, Odunayo Fapohunda, Samuel Tunrayo Fapohunda and his wife, Temitope Fapohunda, Henry Oladipupo Fapohunda and his wife, Crystal Fapofunda, Oluwatoyin Adekola and her husband, Bayo Adekola and Oluwasolape Fapohunda; her eleven grandchildren, Opeyemi Fapohunda, Oluwadamilola Fapohunda, Folasade Fapohunda, Isiah Adekola, Matthew Fapohunda, Olakanmi Fapohunda, Maya Fapohunda, Joshua Adekola, Oluwanifemi Fapohunda, Oluwafunmilolo Fapohunda and Ifeoluwa Adekola; her sister, Christy Balogun and her many friends and neighbors.

Florence was a beautiful woman whose smile lit up the world.  The family’s hearts are now broken as tears fill their eyes.  May each one of us do anything we can to provide comfort and support to Robert and his family at this very devastating time in their lives.

Florence was the center of life for her family, and she had an abundance of love for everyone in her circle.  She will be deeply missed, but Florence will always be in our thoughts, our hearts and especially in our prayers.
