Mr. Fabian Lacret-Subirat, 95, died Monday, August 7, 2017 in the Delaire Nursing & Convalescent Center, Linden, New Jersey.

Mr. Lacret-Subirat, the son of the late Benito Lacret and the late Maria Subirat, was born in Cuba and came to the United States on April 7, 1969.  He lived in Union City, New Jersey, before moving to Linden, New Jersey in 2010.

Mr. Lacret-Subirat graduated from the Jose Marti University in Cuba with a Masters in Mathematics.  He continued his education and graduated from the University of Havana, Cuba with a Ph.D., also in Mathematics.

Mr. Lacret-Subirat worked as a mathematics professor in Havana, Cuba, from 1951 to 1959.  Simultaneously, he owned the first Normal School for Teachers in Havana, Cuba.

Mr. Lacret-Subirat earned a Masters degree in Mathematics from New York University in 1978.  He has the distinction of being listed in the “Who’s Who Book in America” as a mathematics teacher.  While in the United States, Mr. Lacret-Subirat taught mathematics for many years at the high school level and was employed by the Newark Board of Education, until his retirement in 1980.

Predeceased by his wife, Dr. Yolanda Pascual, Ph.D. in 2005,  and his brother, Holmides Lacret-Subirat.  Mr. Lacret-Subirat is survived by his sister-in-law, Sonia Pascual and his goddaughter, Caridad Pascual.

Visitation will take place in the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden, on Thursday, August 10^th. from 4:00 – 5:00PM.  At the conclusion of the visitation, there will be a prayer service offered by the Reverend Bryan Wolf.  The cremation in Rosehill Crematory in Linden, will be private.
